Internist - Physician - (Internal Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 05/20/2013Available Shifts! : 8 Hour/Day
This Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic is in need of a primary care physician to provide services for appoximately four months, or until a permanent candidate can be identified. The physician would need to start as soon as credentialing and privileging can be completed. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Internal medicine (locum tenens) is a branch of medicine characterized by an emphasis on treating the whole body, rather than specialized focus on one body part of system. Many people use internists as their first point of medical contact, and in this way these physicians function similarly to primary care doctors. Internists are trained to treat and diagnose a wide range of illnesses that affect the entirety of the biological system. When an illness proves to be advancing, exotic or complex, internists will usually refer their patients to specialists.
Required Qualifications
The physician shall ! be either Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice! or Internal Medicine. An active basic life support certification and DEA are required prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
