The Department of Medicine's Section of Hospital Medicine at Westchester Medical Center has several opportunities for well-trained internists to join ! our dynamic program. Nationally recognized programs in education and research permit collaborations throughout the campus, which includes New York Medical College. Active clinical operations include quality improvement in the Medical Center, particularly focusing on state-of-the-art technological innovations. The sought after clinician will provide supervision and teaching of residents and medical students in patient care and is encouraged to pursue academic and scholarly activities. The qualified candidate will be adept at teaching and performing hospital medicine, research, or administration, including quality improvement. Appointment to the Medical Staff is accompanied by an academic appointment to New York Medical College.

Patient care responsibilities include close interaction with a variety of subspecialists and involve one monthly weekday evening call (off campus) and one weekend coverage per month. Excellent clinical judgment and teaching skills are desirable. Applicants must have a medical degree, be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and be eligible for medical licensure in New York State.
Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and include a generous package of fringe benefits. Review of applications will continue until all available positions are filled. Anticipated starting salary range: 165-185k
Position Detail
- Academic appointment commensurate with qualifying experience
- Provide all aspects of Internal Medicine care for hospitalized patients admitted to the inpatient medicine service
- Regular interactions with students and re! sidents as inpatient and consult attending
- Regular interactions with consultants as well as primary care providers to ensure patients receive high quality care
- Communicate with incoming and off-going hospitalists to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and huddles
- Provided with Hyperbaric Medicine Training
- Facilitate Code Blue and Rapid Response management
- Board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine preferred
- Work Schedule: Weekdays (regular business hours); One weekday call night per month (off campus) monthly; one weekend call monthly. Typical work hours/week â€" 45; hyperbaric unit coverage one weekend quarterly.
- Typical patient census â€" 12-20 patients per day; weekend census 20-26pts
- Patients covered by night hospitalists after hours
