SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse provides high quality individualized direct patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession. Provides supervision to ancillary personnel ass isting with the delivery of patient care.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Accurately collects clinical data on patients and demonstrates competency in performing clinical interventions and reports abnormalities to Medical Provider.
  • Triage patient phone calls and troubleshoot medication management issues.
  • Must safely perform all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop and organize a plan of care in consultation with treating physician, as indicated within the various subspecialties of the Department.
  • Must effectively determine and set priorities to meet patient needs.
  • Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the patient medical record.
  • Coordinate any services or accommodations necessary (e.g. sign language interpreter) to ensure effective communications between treating providers and patients w ho are hearing and/or visually impaired, and patients with language barriers.
  • Ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate care within the delivery system and facilitates internal and external referrals.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to the specific orders of the ordering physician, and document in the patient record.
  • Maintains infection control precautions and identifies potential infection control problems.
  • Provides in-service education to members of the interdisciplinary team within the Department.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance activities within the Department.
  • Participates in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
  • Conforms to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

Required E ducation & Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
  • Five year post licensure nursing experience in Cardiology
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • Must have excellent communication and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
