Description:


Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Director and Superintendent, the Parks & Recreation Supervisor is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of City Sport Fields, Fieldhouse, and assigned City Parks and their facilities. This position is also responsible for tracking maintenance expenditures and staying within the approved budget.


Duties:


  • Supervises the overall operation of sports fields, grounds, restrooms, facilities assigned within city parks.
  • Provides sports fields and gym preparations for Parks & Recreation programs.
  • Organizes staff and schedules work. Oversees maintenance, training, motivating, planning, and general supervision.
  • Per agreement with Nebo School District, coordinate and work with local schools relating to field preparation, and gym usage.
  • Organizes time to be in the field working with staff or individually.
  • Develop, propose and oversee operational budgets for maintenance and program inventory.
  • Manage and coordinate set up and take down of Special Events involving Springville Parks & Recreation.
  • Operates and oversees the use and maintenance of all equipment and the proper training for the use of equipment.
  • Assists the Parks & Recreation Director with implementing and executing a monthly safety training program and promoting employee safety.
  • Provides snow removal from City parking lots, cemeteries, facility sidewalks, parks sidewalks, and trails.
  • Performs and supervises park improvement projects for assigned City Parks.
  • Has a working relationship with other Parks & Recreation Supervisors. Works closely with the team to achieve the goals and duties of the department.
  • Is available to be on call for Parks & Recreation issues as directed by the Parks & Recreation Director. This position must be able to respond to issues within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Interact with community on issues involving assigned city parks, sports fields, and fieldhouse.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Parks & Recreation Director.


Qualifications:


Must be a high school graduate. Post high school education in a related field is preferred, but not required. Must have at least 3 years of experience in parks/recreation maintenance or related field. Must possess a valid Utah driver License.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES


Must have the skills and abilities to supervise a varied staff. Preferred knowledge of recreation maintenance, tree maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, park facility maintenance, and maintenance and operation of related equipment. Must be able to perform park improvement labor such as concrete work, planting and installing landscapes, installing park amenities, etc. Must have the ability to interact with the public and to resolve problems and provide public service. Must be able to communicate well with employees, supervisors, administration, and City Council. Must have basic computer skills.

Must be generally available and be able to respond to emergency "call-outs" at any time of day, year round, regardless of weather conditions.


Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside in all weather conditions. The employee will be required to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl, and regularly lift over 40 lbs. The position may require a 7:00 a.m. start time during the work week. Ability to work holidays, evenings, and weekends as assigned. Office and administrative work will be required.
