This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing legendary facilities' service to our stores through a cohesive facilities and service management function. The job contributes through the leveraging of capital and expense building related costs. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

As a Director of Facilities, you will:

Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:

  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
  • Supports the implementation of Company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.
  • Advises and influence senior management on budgeting and priorities to gain alignment and deliver uniform, best in class processes

Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:

  • Contributes to the development of long-term strategies and plans for the business unit/department.
  • Establishes short-term operating plans (30-, 60- and 90-day).
  • Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
  • Prepares, communicates, and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures.

Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:

  • Ensures all facilities are operated and maintained in alignment with established standards and procedures. Further develops standards and procedures as business and customer needs evolve.
  • Develops and reviews individual project plans, scope, and deliverables.
  • Ensures customer (operating team) satisfaction.
  • Develops and manages the divisional and regional Facilities Expense and Capital budgets for the areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure continuous improvement programs/initiatives are identified, implemented, and reported
  • Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
  • Develops and maintains positive cross-functional relationships. Conducts meetings on unresolved facility issues in an expeditious and professional manner;
  • Oversees all facilities audits, work order progress reports, and other related reports;
  • Manage third-party contractors/vendors engaged in operating and maintaining properties and equipment
  • Develops, cultivates, and owns key relationships with Landlords, Property Management companies and third-party service providers and vendors
  • Assures capital projects, operations projects, and reconfiguration are managed successfully with outstanding customer service
  • Supports special projects and strategic initiatives for the portfolio and US owned business

Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:

  • Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
  • Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
  • Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in one of the following areas: facilities management, quick service restaurant, corporate facilities, and/or hospitality management.
  • 10+ years experience in building and managing a team or department
  • General knowledge and understanding of statutory compliance requirements for Facilities Management (Hard and Soft).
  • General knowledge and understanding of building equipment and infrastructure
  • Experience in leading cross functional operations and process driven structures across a geographically and culturally widespread portfolio with remote team management.
  • Ability to manage strategic partners and establish relationships with key stakeholders and policymakers.
  • Strong analytical, root cause and continuous improvement skills.
  • Solutions orientated and experienced in working out best in class solutions through triggering collaboration.
  • Ability to inspire others to take action.
  • Must be able to travel regularly across the entire region.
