The Nemours Center for Children's Health Media (also known as KidsHealth) seeks a Medical Editor to join a! n established medical editorial team. The Center is part of Ne! mours, a large nonprofit children's health system with two highly-regarded children's hospitals and other facilities and programs.
The Center creates and distributes engaging, family-friendly consumer-oriented products about children's health across a range of platforms. Its award-winning online, print and video media are developed with the goals of providing families with knowledge, perspective, advice and comfort, as well as increasing clinician effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.
Among its many products is KidsHealth.org, the #1 most-visited website about children's health (in both English and Spanish) with about 1 million visits per day. KidsHealth.org is the recipient of numerous national awards, including 4 Webbys.
KidsHealth also develops a wide range of high-quality, innovative and widely distributed educational (and social media) products for parents, kids and teens, including at-the-bedside video educational programs, educational! content integrated in the electronic health record, text messaging health programs, apps and other media that positively impact the health of kids and families.
KidsHealth provides online and video content to over 80 of the nation's children's hospitals and hundreds of other media, corporate and medical organizations. We work with some of the most iconic brands in the nation to develop custom programs, such as Cheerios, Sesame Workshop, the NBA and many others.
KidsHealth is a pediatrician-led organization based at the Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE (close to Philadelphia) and is composed of physician-educators, editors and writers, Web and graphic designers, video producers, technologists and business development staff. The Medical Editor will be part of an en! thusiastic, experienced team of physicians, health and science editors,! Web and graphic designers, video producers, technology developers, and business developers that share the goal of providing families with information, perspective, advice and comfort, as well as developing tools and products that help clinicians be more effective and efficient.
The ideal applicant will have deep practical and academic knowledge about a range of children's health issues, expertise in media development, excellent command of written and verbal language, and the ability to "translate" complex medical concepts into simple, understandable language; proven interest in consumer-oriented product development; a sense of entrepreneurial enthusiasm; and the ability to work well within a team. This position will play a key role in a group that has major influence on how parents, kids, teens, educators and others understand and feel about a wide range of children's medical and emotional conditions.

Among the tasks to be performed:
Helping to develop, review and medically edit a range of consumer-oriented content about children's health, including online articles, review video scripts, patient instructions, social media messaging and other products.
Participating in formulating and carrying out a range of research and grant projects.
Exploring how digital media positively impacts children and those who care for children.
Helping to develop strategies to increase the good we do for families and clinicians.
Working with researchers to evaluate impact and outcomes of products and helping to improve them.
Participating (~20% time) in clinical activities (of mutual choosing).
Minimum Basic Qualifications
MD and advanced training in pediatrics.
5 years or more of post-residency clinical practice or activity.
Demonstrated interest in family-or! iented education.
Proven skills in media production.
! Work Environment
Successful applicant will report directly to the Chief Medical Editor.
Applicant will work on site (except where research projects require) and relate to a large, multidisciplinary team developing consumer-oriented health education projects for various audiences.
