The opportunity

We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to work within our local community to explain our local laws and why they are important to our way of life.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out patrols, raising community awareness of illegal parking behaviour, companion animals and reporting related issues observed on duty and enforcement of related legislation and regulations as necessary to reduce the level of illegal parking.

You will be confident, resilient and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where the focus is about making a positive difference to our community by providing exceptional customer service and education.

Thinking on your feet will be a daily occurrence along with adapting at a moment’s notice. This role will give you exposure to a variety of duites and responsibilities in a hands-on environment.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) and/or Rangers 1 & 2 or a willingness to obtain qualifications in this field and demonstrated experience in the field.
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to: the Local Government Act, Companion Animals Act, Roads Act, Impounding Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act and the Australian Road Rules.
  • Proven ability to work effectively, autonomously and accept responsibility within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including well-developed written and verbal communication skills coupled with interview techniques, negotiation, conflict resolution and report writing

The package: Salary range circa $63,000 - $70,000 p.a. plus superannuation.

A "to and from" use vehicle is available and will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.

  • 38 hours per week
  • 7 Day Rotating Roster
